I've been thinkin' about a comment that Simon Cowell made on American Idol a couple weeks back. The contestants this season have been hammered by the judges over song choice. Simon's comment that week was "you have billons of songs to choose from and you picked that". While I think the judges are beyond fickle (but really THAT topic is for another post altogether). It got me thinking about all the songs out there that a contestant could pick from.

Its not like I haven't thought about this before. Like many thousands upon millions of other people in the world I too of dreamt of being the NEXT American Idol. But I can't sing. So unlike the thousands of others who went on the show cause their daddy said they sounded like Usher (p.s. your daddy lied to you), I have a heightened sense of self-preservation - and did not try out. However, I did still harbor my secret dream. My secret dream came to an end the day I had the following conversation with a client of mine who has significant cognitive disabilities.

Me: singing at the top of my lungs in the car on the way to an appointment

Client who is in the car: what are you doing?

Me: What? Silly - I'm the next American Idol. Can't you tell?

Client: Ugh, right.

(sound of dream bubble popping goes here)

Okay, so I am not the next American Idol. But if I were - I'd pick better songs. I've included a smattering of songs below that I would possibly choose from. and now when I am listening to any song the thought goes through my head "hmmmm, could this be a AI winner?"
